The Vision

The Nez Perce Police Department identified an opportunity to convert an underutilized back storage room into a dedicated fitness center that would directly support officer readiness, durability, and long-term health. The objective was to create a practical, purpose-built training environment aligned with the physical demands of law enforcement, while making efficient use of an existing footprint.

Rather than building a generic gym, the department prioritized functionality, safety, and longevity, ensuring the space could support daily strength and conditioning for officers with varying schedules, training styles, and experience levels.

Brad Boggs’ Approach

Working closely with department leadership, Brad evaluated the existing storage room conditions, spatial constraints, and training requirements specific to law enforcement use. The approach focused on efficient space planning, clear circulation, and equipment selections capable of withstanding consistent, high-use environments.

A key differentiator in Brad’s process is that he personally produces all CAD layouts and 3D visualizations for his projects. Rather than outsourcing design work, Brad creates detailed equipment layouts and high-resolution 3D renderings that show the exact placement of each piece of equipment within the space. This includes true-to-life 4K visualizations that accurately represent custom upholstery colors, finishes, and equipment aesthetics as they would appear once installed.

This hands-on design process—uncommon among equipment representatives—gave the Nez Perce Police Department a clear understanding of how the fitness center would look and function before any equipment was purchased. The result was reduced uncertainty, streamlined approvals, and confident decision-making throughout the planning process.

The consulting and planning scope included:

• Converting an existing back storage room into a functional fitness space
• Space planning and equipment layout to support strength and conditioning workflows
• CAD-based equipment positioning and 3D visualization produced directly by Brad
• 4K renderings to preview custom upholstery and finishes in context
• Flooring recommendations focused on impact absorption, traction, and durability
• Equipment selection aligned with law enforcement training demands
• Coordination with vendors, installers, and on-site sequencing

Brad was onsite to oversee the full flooring installation as well as the equipment delivery and installation, ensuring quality control, proper execution, and alignment with the original design intent.

The Solution

The completed fitness center was organized into clearly defined training zones supporting strength training and conditioning, allowing officers to train efficiently without congestion or unnecessary complexity.

Key vendor contributions included:

• Matrix Fitness for commercial-grade cardio equipment and training accessories, including dumbbells and weight plates
• Atlantis Strength for selectorized and strength equipment designed for durability and heavy daily use
• Ecore Athletic for high-performance flooring providing impact absorption, traction, and acoustic control

Ecore flooring was installed in September 2025, creating a durable foundation for training. Equipment was delivered and installed in October 2025, completing the transformation of the former storage room into a fully operational fitness facility.

The Result

The Nez Perce Police Department Fitness Center now serves as a dedicated training resource that supports officer performance, resilience, and long-term wellness. The space is intuitive, durable, and purpose-built for the realities of law enforcement training.

By repurposing an existing room and combining thoughtful planning, advanced visualization, proven equipment partners, and hands-on oversight, the department gained a high-functioning fitness facility that enhances daily operations without unnecessary cost or complexity.
